Check These Things Before You Call Us

As we move from heating to cooling season, or vice versa, at least a few times a year one of our service techs arrive on a trouble call only to find out the problem was something really simple that the owner could have resolved. Examples of these issues include:

  • Check your thermostat settings: Make sure your thermostat is "ON", is set to "COOL", and the desired room temperature is set lower than the current ambient temperature in summer, or "HEAT" and the desired room temperature is set higher than ambient temperature in winter.
  • Make sure your system has power: Check you circuit breaker panel to ensure that your heating system breaker is "ON".
  • Check your indoor furnace or air handler system switch: Make sure your "SYSTEM SWITCH" is set to "ON". This switch is typically a traditional toggle switch that may have a RED cover-plate.
  • Is your furnace or air handler air filter clean? Change your furnace filter and re-start your furnace.
  • Give it a few minutes after restoring power: If you thermostat or the system power was off, after turning the system on give it a few minutes; many heat systems have a time-delay function on start-up.
  • Is your outdoor coil dirty? If your system is blowing cool air, but not cooling as well as it should, check your outdoor unit to ensure there is nothing blocking airflow through the outdoor coil. PLEASE NOTE: Be very careful not to damage the fines on your outdoor coil and call us if you need help!

After checking these items, if your heat pump is still not operating properly call us day or night and we’ll dispatch a service tech to help! These are common heat pump service items we help Georgia home and business owners with:

  • Your heat pump is not turning on or not meeting indoor temperature needs
  • Indoor temperature too hot or too cold
  • Some rooms are properly conditioned and some are not
  • Indoor coil or refrigerant lines covered with heavy frost or ice
  • Breaker to the outdoor has unit tripped more than once
  • A persistent vibration or odd noise with the outdoor or indoor unit
  • Thermostat not working properly

We will thoroughly evaluate your split heat pump and prepare thorough job estimate. All of our HVAC services come with a 100% Guarantee.

If your heat pump is fine today but you want more peace of mind, consider our HVAC maintenance agreements. Before the both the cooling and heating season, we’ll perform a complete air conditioning check. We’ll inspect your system, if necessary clean your indoor and outdoor coils, change your indoor air filter, inspect your refrigerant lines, and test run your system to ensure proper operation. A properly maintained heat pump system is more efficient, more reliable, and will have a longer service life. For more information about preseason heat pump tune-up program, click here.
